Galeras Park
The Galeras park extends along the banks of the Sarela river on an almost flat terrain where it joins the Corgo stream. This valley is bounded on the west by Finca del Espiño – leafy and with a romantic modernist palace – and Monte Pío – where the residence of the president of the Autonomous Community of Galicia is located – and on the one you can read the monumental city, which allows us to appreciate the contrast between the size of the blocks of flats and the large unique buildings (cathedral, convent of San Francisco, faculty of Medicine, monastery of Saint Martín Pinario, old hospital etc.) and the small houses and constructions on a rural scale that go up to Mount Pedroso. It marks, therefore, the boundary between the city and the natural environment.
Galeras is above all a large meadow, very suitable for walking, children’s play and sports, which also has several signature architectures, and cafes and restaurants with views over the park.
