Route 3 – Tambre river

Tambre River

The Tambre is the biggest river in the A Coruña province. It flows across 130 km from A Lagoa de Sobrado until the Muros and Noia estuary, where it embraces the Atlantic. A river with a generous volume of water and fishing possibilities, with fishing preserves such as A Ponte Maceira, Chaián and Sigüeiro, where trout can be captured, or that of Noia, with sea trout. We can also practice nautical sports and take a dip in a fluvial beach, such as those from O Refuxio or Chaián, for example.

Route 11 – Roxos river waterfalls

Waterfalls in the Roxos River

The Roxos River as it passes through the limits of the municipalities of Santiago and Ames, falls steeply towards its mouth in the Sar River forming impressive waterfalls. The section is full of rapids and pools between some oak groves mixed with laurels and other riverside trees. Its flow suffers sudden rises when the rains drive the waters to the south. There are also two abandoned mills covered with weeds. The clean waters of the Roxos after this fall are mixed in front of the Castro de Mirás and the paper mill ruins of Brandía with the waters of the Sar.
