It is located at the top of the mountain and features some Espellos (mirrors, by the artist Manolo Paz), from which the connection between the Xacobean Route and the City of the Apostle can be admired from a unique perspective. Likewise, these figures also allude to the castro (hill fort) culture, which is so deeply rooted in Galicia.
The Cidade da Cultura de Galicia (Galicia’s Culture City) is an architectural complex designed by Peter Eisenman and built on the summit of Mount Gaiás. The different buildings and spaces of the complex house services and activities meant for the preservation of heritage and memory, and for the study, research, experimentation, production and diffusion in the fields of humanities and thought, music, theater, dance, cinema, visual arts, audiovisual creation and communication.
This fantastic grove of 34 hectares rises on the slope of Monte Gaiás. It features around 12,000 trees of native species, thus benefiting visitors to the City of Culture who come to it for a pleasant walk through one of the green spaces of Compostela.
